Undergraduate students that are required to live in the residence halls under the First Year Living Requirement are not eligible to live in the University Apartments. CSU requires that all newly admitted first-year students (Admissions Type “New”) and transfer students with fewer than 15 post-high school credits, who are single, under 21 years of age, and not living with their parents in the Fort Collins area, live in the University residence halls for the first two consecutive terms of their attendance. Credits taken concurrent with high school and/or credits attained through Advanced Placement (AP) do not apply toward living experience.
Apartment applications for the following lease term (June 1-May 31) become available in late January and remain open until the end of the lease term.
Priority on the assignment list is determined by available space and the date of a completed application for the dates you wish to move in. Notification of assignment is made by email approximately 6-8 weeks before the desired move-in date, or earlier if we become aware of available space. Priority is given to CSU students and then to post-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars, faculty, and staff applications. Information regarding an apartment assignment will be sent via email to your official CSU email address.
The University does not cover personal possessions that are lost, damaged, and/or destroyed by accident, theft, or other means while residing in or making use of University premises.
Residents are strongly encouraged to purchase renter’s insurance. A renter’s insurance policy covers your personal possessions such as your computer & other electronics, clothing, and school supplies from loss as well as other charges caused by negligence (for example, if you cause damage to the facility that also damages your neighbor’s belongings). Where applicable, a resident’s family’s homeowner policy may provide full or partial coverage. Additionally, some car insurance policies have renter’s insurance options. Contact your insurance company for additional information.
The $50 application fee is non-refundable; however, the $300 housing deposit is refundable provided you do not accept an apartment assignment prior to canceling your application. Applicants that accept an apartment assignment and then cancel are subject to a contract breakage fee and up to 30-days’ rent.
Your deposit will be refunded to your Colorado State University student/billing account if you request a cancellation of your apartment application without accepting an apartment assignment. If there are no outstanding charges, the deposit will be mailed to you in the form of a check, or as a direct deposit if previously arranged with the CSU Cashier’s Office. Students can sign up for Direct Deposit on RamWeb.
All units in Aggie Village and International House, as well as 2-Bedroom Shared apartments in University Village 1500, are fully furnished and residents do not have the option to request furniture options in these unit types.
Family apartments in Aggie Village Family and University Village 1500, 1600, and 1700, as well as 2-Bedroom Alone apartments in University Village 1500, may be requested as furnished or unfurnished. Prospective residents may request either a furnished or unfurnished unit when they complete an Apartment Application. There is no additional charge for the initial furniture placement in a furnished apartment.

No, the rental rate for apartments is determined by the size of the apartment and facility type, not whether it is furnished. There is no additional charge for the initial furniture placement in a furnished apartment, but there is a fee for furniture change requests after the initial furniture placement is completed.
Yes, you may apply for a 3-bedroom apartment, but priority goes to families with children.

The check-in process is completed at the apartment complex front desk. Rent begins on the assigned check-in date. Additional check-in instructions will be sent to residents via their official CSU email address.
Yes. Residents may submit a Rent Advance Billing Request via the Resources tab on the Housing Portal. Restrictions apply.
Yes. The University Apartments (except Aggie Village-Lodgepole) are open year–round and do not close during university breaks. Rent will be charged.

If you are graduating & have submitted your Intent to Graduate or have registered for a University study abroad or internship program, we will use that as support for waiving your contract breakage fee.

Parking on campus is permitted, but is limited and requires a permit year-round (including summer and during breaks). We encourage students to make use of the various alternative transportation options available on campus and throughout the Fort Collins community.

We are happy to offer apartment living options to suit a variety of needs. During the apartment application process, applicants should select the living arrangement option that best describes their living circumstances.

Family Without Children, Family with children, Myself plus spouse/committed partner | For family apartment types, 1 person (the principal resident) will be responsible for the lease and rent for the apartment. The principal resident must maintain eligibility to remain in the University Apartments and all occupants must vacate when the principal resident vacates. Select one of these options if some occupants will not be CSU students or there will be minor children in the apartment. Subletting (charging rent to another person) is not allowed. |
Just Me, Myself plus roommate(s) | For shared and alone/single-occupancy apartment types, rent will be charged to each resident individually, who must maintain eligibility. Each resident must complete their own apartment application, and each resident will have their own lease/contract for the apartment with their own assignment dates. Select one of these options if all residents will be CSU students. Subletting (charging rent to another person) is not allowed. |
Generally speaking, the check-in date in your lease agreement is the earliest check-in date we can guarantee for your assigned apartment. However, incoming residents may submit an Early Arrival request via the Resources tab in the Housing Portal to request an early arrival up to 2 weeks prior to their assigned check-in date. Requests are subject to review by our Facilities staff and not all early arrival requests can be approved. Residents are encourage to submit an early arrival request as soon as possible.
