Economy Double rooms are a great, newer option for students who may be more interested in amenities than square footage. Located in Laurel Village, Summit, Parmelee 4th floor, and Braiden 4th floor, these rooms offer features like air conditioning, and newer construction, at a lower price point than other rooms in the same building. Economy Doubles are smaller than other rooms, housing two people in a space originally designated as a single.
As a new offering for room assignments, during Fall 2023, we asked current residents about their experience living in an economy double. Some of the things they said are:
- The room works and the air conditioning is worth it
- I’m benefitting well from it price-wise for AC
- The small space is easy to get used to and isn’t bad at all it’s kinda cozy
- I enjoy paying less for a room/hall that comes with a lot of perks
- My roommate and I remain very clean and organized in our room. Thus, our space although small, remains quite comfortable. I personally don’t have an issue with the room size, especially since I get to be in a suite-style room!
- The nicer buildings are definitely worth it. The rooms aren’t that much smaller either. The closet space is difficult but every other aspect of the room is fine
- I think that as I got adjusted to my room, I barely noticed the size. My roommate and I wanted a private bathroom so we’re satisfied with the room.
- I got to live with my roommate and take part in a fun community
